At the time of writing, all the reviews on here seem to be of people who have received free advanced copies of this book, so I felt the need to weigh in as a paying customer. This author's been a little hit and miss for me but her books do sometimes have some intriguing storylines and characters, so I was curious about this one.I won't go into the plot, you can get that from the other reviews, but I didn't get the edge of your seat thriller I was hoping for here. Characters are well written, but I didn't feel the need to burn through the pages here like a good thriller should want to make me. It's written from two main POVs, and the author tries to do something different by interspacing these with some fairy tale chapters about a couple of princesses. It reads just as bizarre as it sounds and seems to have zero connection with the story. I can appreciate someone trying something original, but it backfires here. Just when things are getting interesting and the tension is building in the main storyline.... wham, you're back in an enchanted castle dealing with princesses and witches. Towards the very end of the book the author finally makes the connection between the fairy tale and the current events, but by then I was too irritated to care.No spoilers here, but the ending was also very unsatisfying, especially for Geneva's character. It feels like a cliffhanger setup for a follow up novel. Between that and the fairy tale sections, I wouldn't recommend this one.
